Description

Extraordinary. Truly extraordinary is the only way I can describe the history file supporting this 68323 mile, Racetorations restored ‘fast road’ TR3A

To be more specific there are 10, yes 10 bulging lever arch files documenting the most detailed history of any car I have ever had the pleasure to drive and sell. As such we can pretty well say the car is 68323 miles from new and this will rise as I drive and enjoy the car.

‘Fast road car’ in this instance means 87mm pistons giving 2.2litres with gas flowed head and uprated camshaft. Oil cooler, electric fuel pump, thin belt alternator conversion, Kenlowe cooling fan. The gearbox is a later TR4 unit with synchro on all 4 gears and competition overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Suspension has been upgraded and a front anti roll bar is fitted to. A perfect fast road or competition rally specification

Of course mechanical upgrades are useless without a solid well sorted chassis and body. The body was also worked upon by the TR specialist Racetorations. The rear bodywork having significant work on corrosion and damage. The colour was changed from powder blue to dark blue with the trim colour remaining as new in grey. When new the car was supplied with a steel hardtop and the car also has this today. Additionally it has a perfect soft top, full and half tonneau with matching sidescreens. As such the car is ready for use in any weather and for any purpose ranging from classic fun runs to hardcore Le Jog OR Monte Carlo Rally etc. The TR3A is always a very versatile car BUT this car is absolutely ready for anything you could ever want to do in a classic car

So what does it drive like? It’s a really lively sports car. Very capable of 100mph+ on an autobahn or 70mph on a motorway but the car is really at home weaving through the countryside, snicking through the gears and overdrive and using the full rev range of that 2.2litre fast road engine. I have completed and won class on the Monte Carlo on several occasions in a TR3A. This car would easily enter that environment and perform with credit. It is that good.

What is there to do to the car. Nothing really. It’s an older restoration with the odd mark and blemish but the fact it is an older restoration only credits the restorer who we know is one of the best and the owners of the car over 65years but especially since the early 1990’s. When you have a note book in the glovebox that details every journey made and mileage, fuel used and journey since the early 2000’s you know you are driving a car that has been cherished to a point of obsession. The 10 history files present a truly amazingly detailed log of previous owners, work to the car, events attended etc etc.

On the button, ready to go, sold with a warranty and the most comprehensive history of any car I have ever seen are the highlights of this car. There are no negatives.
