Description

Here we have our limited edition Mazda MX5 Merlot. One of only 600 cars worldwide we are privileged to have her as you will read.

We bought a low mileage low owner MX5 last year for sale stock but mainly to see how good they are and why everybody who has driven raves about them. The reality is they are fantastic little sportscars that pack a mighty punch of engagement when driving. Many smiles per mile. Brilliant handling, steering from that sporty engine with amazing gear change. Utterly reliable too.

At the end of the season we sold the car and realised that we have driven 6000 miles in her. More than any other stock car! So when it sold to be the 17th birthday present for a young lady we were thrilled that she would be getting such a great car. BUT we are hooked and needed another one. So we searched for a series one car with pop up headlights and the 1.8 litre engine as these are considered most desirable. Here she is. We adore this car.

A UK car collected new by the owner of 27years from JCT600 Mazda Centre of Leeds and cherished by that single owner with an outstanding service history all documented in the original book pack which is complete and in a thick history folder of all MOT’s and services for the car. Showing a warranted 33000 miles today the car has been used on sunny days and looks like it has never started a journey when raining. It is that clean and tidy.

The 1.8 is  more punchy and doesn’t need revving so hard to get that performance thrill the car gives. As per our later Mark II car this Merlot mark I gives all the engagement and driving passion. The car is without fault and has had a new battery which I do every time I buy a car.  It is ready to go and enjoy.

The Mark I has a cleaner line than the Mark II. The headlights tucked away until needed is the reason for this. As for the Merlot Edition of 600 the paint is a beautiful colour with the pearl fleck that is dazzlingly gorgeous in the sun light. The paint is unmarked as are the special edition wheels. The interior with ruffled grey leather and wood dash and electric windows makes the car a lovely quite opulent place to sit compared to our very basic Mark I.

I literally cannot find any fault in this car. It is a tribute to the first owner who must have simply adored this car. I can see why. The car is ready to go BUT might be a car for a collector because it is that good.
