Description
A fixed head coupe with perfect WEBASTO SUNROOF. Exactly what you want if you can’t resist the gorgeous lines of the fixed head and yet yearn for that wind in your hair fresh air enjoyment too, A series II FHC with a Webasto is probably the best driving option of any E Type. I think so and the new owner will agree.
We bought this car as a winter ‘project’ and sympathetically restored it over the winter to present for sale today. The car was mechanically a fine thing and so much about the car was right. However some corrosion around the wheel arches required rectification and that is what we have done. Not a complete restore but a localised photographed refurbishment putting new metal into the wheel arches to make the car ready for another 20 years of fun. The rationale behind the work was to keep the cost as low as possible so that we could sell the car and keep it within the reach of most E Type admirers. The invoice for £6575 bodywork and paint and photos of that work are now in the history file. The car has also been serviced and detailed to make it ready to enjoy.
The car has an interesting history file with a recent long term family ownership going back to the mid 2000’s. where a lot of work was done to the car and bills accompanying nicely laid out to record the work. There a volumes of MOT’s too which seem to indicate that 60,000 is possibly the right mileage. I can’t warranty it but it is a possibility.
On the road it’s a lovely place to be and a lovely car to drive. There really is nothing like an E Type to drive. That view down the bonnet is quite unique and ‘special’. The SII has better seats and as tall overweight person I sit really comfortably in this E. There is a nice patina to the interior but the seats and trim are all still very good. The wider wheels with offset chrome spokes make the car look more muscular but also provide more confidence when taking the car into a fast corner. I have mentioned the Webasto and it is very quiet in the cabin with the Webasto closed but the easy to operate roof pulls back very easily and the wind deflector compliments the roof perfectly. I really like this feature as it gives perfect coupe looks and comfort with the option to get that wind in your hair feel good.
All in all this is a very very nice car to drive and look at. Much admired on the road by all sorts of people the E Type draws attention in a positive way like no other classic car.
